We are seeking an experienced cook to prepare and deliver a nutritious & healthy range of dietary requirements for our Early Learning Centre.

About the role:

The primary function of the Kaitoutoko is to prepare and cook a well-balanced and nutritious children’s menu for morning snacks, lunch and afternoon snacks for our tamariki and to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.

At times incumbents may be required to assist on the floor where tamariki and kaiako ratios are insufficient to meet Puna requirements.

You will need:

  • A Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) or related field
  • A sound understanding of portion control and the nutritional needs of babies, toddlers and young tamariki
  • A proven ability to maintain a safe food preparation environment (including the cleaning of equipment)
  • The ability to cook between 30 – 60 child portion meals
  • Experience working with pre-school children
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Full NZ Drivers Licence

A sound understanding of te reo Maaori phrases, mihi and greetings and of Maaori values, culture and tikanga would be an advantage.
