Are you interested in being involved in a leading edge full time course of study that places emphasis on skills required for a wide range of building construction tasks and delivering a programme that is both theory and practice based?

If so, and you have proven successful experience in the building industry, you may be the person we are looking for.

The overarching objective of the programme is to give tauira the opportunity to experience trade education and in particular that of carpentry. The programme teaches students about:

  • Health & Safety requirements;
  • Operating power, portable and hand tools used in the construction process;
  • The functions of building, legislation and compliance;
  • The Building Act; and
  • Building a single level, timber-framed, relocatable house as part of a team.

The ideal candidate for this position will hold:

  • a Diploma Level 5 qualification in Carpentry;
  • an LBP (Licenced Building Practitioner);
  • a current first aid certificate;
  • a National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy; and
  • a clean Full NZ Drivers’ Licence with ‘P’ endorsement.

You will also need to have 4 years’ experience in the industry related sector, work placement, work skill development or career planning and development; as well as teaching experience and experience working with Māori and Pacific Island people.

If you wish to be involved in this exciting programme and have a passion for seeing tauira succeed in education then we would like to hear from you.
