Kaiako Support (Carpentry)
Part time, Fixed Term (until 21 December 2018)
Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is guided by its vision of Whānau Transformation through Education.
We are looking for a passionate and energetic Kaiako (teacher) Support person, able to provide support services to Carpentry tauira and whānau by fostering and maintaining cultural awareness and connections, assisting in the retention of tauira and providing relief teaching as and when required for the Carpentry Level 3 programme. You will help Kaiako (Teachers) to develop and deliver the curriculum, prepare documentation, support with general administration and resources and assist in assessment and course completion.
You will have a Certificate in Carpentry/Trades L4, a Diploma in Adult Education (L5) or a commitment to attain this within two years of appointment, Assessment Standards 4098, 11551, 11552 and a full clean New Zealand Drivers Licence. Experience teaching adults, using work flow management and undertaking tutorials is preferred. Experience working in the building/construction industries (including knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, e.g. Sitesafe) is essential.
Knowledge of Te
Reo Maaori, Tikanga Māori and the skills to apply kaupapa Māori approaches to
relationship management and community engagement will be an advantage.
