We currently have a vacancy for a Kaiako to deliver the Te Pūtaketanga o te Reo Maori programme, which is based on Ako Whakatere methodology and techniques. The Kaiako is responsible for delivering programme content professionally and effectively as well as taking an active role in the recruitment and retention of students. 

The ideal candidate will have the following;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Te Reo Māori or related subject or an attested equivalent
  • Aupikitanga (level 6) or Pinakitangi (level 7) qualification is of preference 
  • Level 5 teaching qualification in Adult Education and Assessment Standards 4098/11281/18203 (or complete NOA1)

Experience:

  • 3-5 year’s experience in teaching total immersion
  • Fluent in Te Reo Maori me ōna tikanga is of preference

Āhuatanga Māori:

  • Have an excellent understanding of āhuatanga and tikanga Māori and actively participates in cultural events;
  • Have an advanced ability and understanding of Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga with accurate and proficient in both written and oral form
