If you’re passionate about transforming education and empowering kaiako to thrive in culturally grounded, innovative learning environments, we’ve created this new role to lead the charge in inspiring and upskilling our teaching workforce.
As Ako Excellence Facilitator, you’ll design and deliver professional learning experiences that embed Tauira-centred practices, grounded in mātauranga Māori, indigenous pedagogies, and the Ako Wānanga framework. You’ll champion the integration of cutting-edge educational technologies—think adaptive learning, AI-enhanced tools, and immersive simulations—to elevate teaching quality and learner engagement.

Mōu | About you
Your success in this exciting new position will hinge on your depth of experience as a teacher, kaiako or facilitator along with:
- A postgraduate qualification in Education, Educational Technology, or Tertiary Teaching (Master’s preferred).
- At least 5 years’ experience in tertiary teaching, with expertise in blended and online learning.
- Strong knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogy and indigenous knowledge systems.
- Proven ability to inspire, coach, and support academic staff in adopting innovative teaching practices.
- A full NZ drivers licence as some regional travel will be required.
