Do you believe in the potential of young people? Are you passionate about helping rangatahi navigate life’s challenges and discover new pathways to a brighter future? We’re looking for a dedicated Coach – Youth Services to join our team and make a real difference. This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position, based in Hamilton.
As a Coach – Youth Servies, you will work closely with rangatahi providing personalised, wrap around support, to help them step confidently into education, training, or work-based learning.
This is not your average desk job – it’s hands on, heart-led, and deeply rewarding. You’ll build trusted relationships, walk alongside young people through life’s ups and downs, and celebrate their milestones as they move towards independence and success. You will also:
- Welcoming rangatahi into the Youth Service and supporting their enrolment
- Carrying out strengths-based assessments and creating tailored plans focused on education, training, or employment goals
- Connecting rangatahi to services, opportunities, and resources that remove barriers and build confidence
- Providing regular, intensive one-on-one support to ensure rangatahi stay engaged and empowered on their journey
Mōu | About you
The ideal person is empathetic, culturally grounded, and driven to uplift rangatahi by building strong relationships, navigating barriers, and guiding them toward meaningful opportunities.
You will also bring with you:
- Bachelors degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field
- Certificate in Youth Work (Level 4)
- Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver’s License
- 4+ years’ experience in social services, education, or a similar field
- 2+ years’ experience facilitating group sessions or workshops
- 4+ years’ experience working with Māori and/or Pasifika communities
- 4+ years’ experience providing intensive case management or mentoring for rangatahi
- Confident using social media platforms to connect with and engage rangatahi
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
