Digital Programme Manager

Digital Programme Manager Te Pae Tawhiti Transformation Wāhanga

Te Awamutu/Flexible Location

Two-year Fixed Term

Te Pae Tawhiti 2030 is Te Wānanga o Aotearoa's organisational strategy, and delivering it requires real transformation across the way we work. At the centre of that transformation sits a portfolio of digital programmes, the Enrolment and Pastoral Care Experience (EPC), Strengthening Enterprise Foundations (SEF), and Modernisation of Data Infrastructure (MDI), each one designed to modernise how we operate so we can better serve our tauira, our kaimahi, and the communities we exist for.

We are looking for a Digital Programme Manager to provide the delivery discipline that keeps that portfolio on track.

mātou | About us

As a proudly kaupapa Māori tertiary educator, tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.

Our kaimahi enjoy a whānau-friendly workplace and a great range of benefits to support the wellbeing of them and their whānau.

tēnei mahi | About this job

This is a portfolio-level role focused on rigour, visibility, and coordination across a complex programme of work. You will track delivery progress, manage risks and dependencies, maintain RAID logs and reporting artefacts, and produce clear, timely reporting for governance and senior leaders. You will be the person who ensures nothing falls through the gaps and that decision-makers have what they need, when they need it.

You will report directly to the Senior Programme Manager and work as part of a broader transformation team that includes the Head of Digital Change Transformation, the Enterprise Change Manager, and the Manager – Communications and Engagement. Your work will have direct visibility and will work with the Digital Transformation Portfolio Director, contributing to portfolio-level governance and helping sustain momentum across the three programmes.

This role requires real financial management capability. You will own programme budgets, produce forecast-to-complete and variance reporting for governance, manage vendor relationships, and contribute to business cases. Financial clarity is a core part of what you will bring.

The transformation portfolio is live and moving. You will not be setting up from scratch, but you will be shaping how the work lands. There is real scope to influence how the portfolio is governed, how risks are managed, and how the organisation experiences this change. This is a role with weight and visibility.

Mōu | About you

You have 5-7 years of experience delivering programmes, with a strong track record in digital or technology transformation. You are comfortable with the financial side of programme management, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and vendor management, and you can communicate that clearly to governance audiences. You apply agile practices at programme level without being rigid about methodology, adapting your approach to what the context actually needs.

You are a relationship builder. You work well across diverse stakeholder groups, know how to hold trust with senior leaders and frontline kaimahi alike, and you write and present with clarity and purpose.

Kua whati te tai, tonomai! | Apply today!

If you are a disciplined, experienced digital programme manager who wants to do meaningful work in an organisation that values people and culture, we would like to hear from you.
