We are seeking a dedicated and detail orientated English Language Teacher tojoin us on a fixed term – full time (37.5 hours per week) basis based in Albany or Queen Street, Auckland (Primary base will depend on tauira numbers each semester)

As an English Language Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing the language skills of domestic students, both in a traditional classroom setting and through online instruction. You’ll be instrumental in delivering innovative teaching methods, to empower our tauira to excel in their English language proficiency. This role entails the planning, delivery, assessment, and reporting of results. 

The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual with a social disposition. They will exhibit strong teamwork capabilities within an academic environment and will actively engage in providing pastoral care and social support to our tauira.

This role is primarily located at Albany/Queen Street campus, but the ability to work flexibly across our various sites in the Auckland region, as necessary, including providing relief teaching is considered advantageous.

About you

We are looking for someone who has the following:

  • The minimum requirement is an internationally recognised teaching qualification, such as CELTA, Trinity Certificate in TESOL or equivalent.
  • Either currently hold or be in the process of obtaining the National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (NCALNE).
  • At least two years teaching in an ESOL environment is preferred.
  • Experience teaching NZCEL programmes and/or Academic/Employment English qualifications would be desirable.  
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft suite, in particular, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with the internet and email usage is essential.

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
