We are seeking a dedicated and detail orientated English Language Teacher to join us on a Fixed Term, full-time (37.5 hours per week) basis based in Auckland, Queens Street.

As an English Language Teacher, you will primarily teach NZCEL programmes to domestic students, both in a traditional classroom setting and through online instruction. You’ll be instrumental in delivering innovative teaching methods, to empower our tauira to excel in their English language proficiency. This role entails the planning, delivery, assessment, and reporting of results.

 

The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual with a social disposition. They will exhibit strong teamwork capabilities within an academic environment and will actively engage in providing pastoral care and social support to our tauira.

This role is primarily located at Queens Street campus, but the ability to work flexibly across our various sites in the Auckland region, as necessary, including providing relief teaching is considered advantageous.

 

About you

We are looking for someone who has the following:

  • A minimum of an internationally recognised English language teaching qualification (e.g., CELTA, Trinity TESOL, or equivalent).
  • A tertiary qualification in any field is desirable, as it may support teaching practice and academic engagement.
  • At least two years of ESOL teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching NZCEL programmes  and/or familiarity with the NZCEL suite of programmes is highly desirable as you will be teaching any of the NZCEL programmes currently on the suite of programmes.
  • Either holds, or is working towards, the National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (NCALNE).
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with online communication tools and digital teaching platforms.
  • A willingness to engage in cultural development and grow understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture, and tikanga).

 

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
