Location: Te Awamutu
Hours: Full-time, 37.5hrs per week

Tenure: Permanent

Salary: $72,490 –$90,613

As a Graphic & Digital Designer, you will: 

  • Design and develop high-quality online, multimedia and print learning resources. 
  • Build and maintain visually engaging, accessible and user-friendly learning content within Moodle/iAkoranga. 
  • Create graphics, animations, motion-design elements and multimedia assets that enhance tauira learning. 
  • Manage the end-to-end production of digital content, from interpreting briefs through to final delivery.
  • Collaborate with programme developers, instructional designers and creative specialists to translate learning outcomes into effective resources. 
  • Apply instructional design, accessibility and user-centred design principles to improve engagement and usability. 
  • Support quality improvements, version control and effective digital asset management. 
  • Ensure resources meet quality, accessibility, copyright and regulatory requirements while reflecting Te Kaupapa Matua and bicultural values. 

 

Mōu | About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A relevant qualification in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education or a related field. 
  • Around five years’ relevant experience within a tertiary or educational environment. 
  • Experience designing, developing and maintaining engaging digital learning content within Moodle, including structuring resources and enhancing the learner experience. 
  • Strong graphic design, digital content creation, animation or motion-design skills. 
  • Confidence exploring and appropriately using emerging technologies, including generative AI tools, to support innovative and efficient learning-resource design. 
  • Sound knowledge of instructional design, accessibility and adult learning principles. 
  • Strong project and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. 
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and creating meaningful learning experiences for tauira. 

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
