Head - Kaimahi Experience

  • Passionate about creating an environment where people feel connected, valued and empowered?  This kaimahi-centric role is for you!
  • Newly created role, permanent/full-time (37.5 hours per week).
  • Te Awamutu or Hamilton based.

Mō mātou | About us

As a proudly indigenous tertiary educator, ‘tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.

Providing a positive, supportive, whānau-friendly workplace enables our kaimahi to help us realise our vision.  We also provide a range of benefits to support their wellbeing and that of their whānau:

  • Free health and life insurance.
  • Four extra leave days each year to celebrate Matariki and Christmas, plus special leave available for those involved in cultural or sporting events.
  • Flexible work hours and work-from-home up to two days per week.
  • Free car parking, and much more.

Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We’re searching for an inspiring leader to deliver our Kaimahi Experience strategy, supported by a team who are engaged and ready to go.  Your focus is on workplace culture and engagement, creating and executing initiatives that enhance the overall kaimahi experience while continually looking for ways to enhance those experiences.  All this, while providing opportunities for your team to grow and develop their own capability.

With a range of significant, exciting programmes identified, the roadmap is largely set, however, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute, and the delivery strategy is yours to determine.  You’ll engage with cross-functional teams to deliver values-based initiatives designed to improve engagement, promote inclusivity, increasing workforce understanding and ability to apply kaimahi experience frameworks, tools and resources to workplace practices to enhance what is already a unique, special workplace.  You’ll then be focused on gathering and analysing feedback, identifying challenges and looking for opportunities to take things to the next level.

Mōu | About you

Key to your success in this role will be proven experience designing and implementing programmes that have truly shifted the dial on kaimahi experience and engagement.  You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Success in leading and developing a team of capable, engaged, highly skilled individuals.
  • Proven experience planning and executing short- and long-term programmes using project management methodologies.
  • A willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga).
  • Previous experience working within a kaupapa Māori workplace (a real advantage but not essential).
  • An open, collaborative style that shows not only in your leadership style, but in the lasting relationships you build and your ability to influence.
  • Demonstrable expertise in gathering and interpreting insights that measure success, highlight opportunities, and inform decision-making.
  • A desire to champion diversity, promote inclusivity and understanding.
