Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

The Kaiako delivers the Bachelor of Bicultural Social Work programme, which involves developing lesson plans, facilitating lessons to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating their progress. The successful candidate is required to engage in Rangahau (research) and to maintain currency of subject knowledge. Some flexibility may be required to work some weekends and evenings

 

Mōu | About you

The Kaiako must be able to understand Social Work from a Māori and non-Māori perspective. You will need to have the ability to develop and dispense Māori bodies of knowledge contextualized to social work practice, knowledge of bicultural frameworks, and the ability to plan and deliver them.

Applicants must:

 

  • Hold a Master’s degree (L9) in social work/related subject or enrolled and part way through completing
  • Hold a New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
  • Have a Full and current NZ Driver Licence
  • Have a Clean Police Record
  • Have Full and current registration with the NZ Social Work Registration Board prior to employment
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of te reo and tikanga Māori within a bicultural framework
  • Have adult teaching experience

 

 

Please note: This position is classed as a Core Worker under the Vulnerable Children’s Act and will need to pass a safety check, inclusive of Police Vetting, under the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014. 

 

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
