Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

This is a Permanent Full-time (37.5 of hours per week) position, based out of the Mangere campus. Some flexibility will be required to work some weekends and evenings (for noho and night classes only)

We are seeking a kaiako to deliver our Certificate in Study & Employment Skills Level 4 programme, which involves, but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, delivering quality lessons to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, evaluating tauira progress, and providing feedback about this fresh programme. This half year course includes delivering face-to-face, daytime classes, including on some weekends.

The Study and Employment Skills programme provides tauira with the academic skills, capabilities, knowledge and attributes needed to prepare for higher level education or employment. This includes navigating digital technology, written and oral communication skills, financial literacy, research skills, and study and employment pathway planning, all while supporting tauira to develop and enhance essential personal capabilities.

Mōu | About you

The right candidate will have a passion for supporting tauira success, as well as possess strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and adaptability.

Ideally you will hold:

  • A Level 5 Diploma or higher
  • A Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent
  • Full and current NZ Driver License; clean Police record
  • New Zealand Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy in Education (Level 5) and/or proven industry experience in professional development
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a related role teaching adult learners.

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
