Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are seeking a Kaiako to deliver our Certificate in Tākaro, Sport and Exercise - Level 4 programme, which involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress.

You will be responsible for recruiting and inducting tauira, implementing effective teaching and assessment strategies, monitoring academic progress, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with TWoA and NZQA requirements. Creating a collaborative, inclusive and culturally grounded learning environment will be essential to the success of this role.

This is a Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position, based out of the Whakatāne campus. Some flexibility will be required to work some weekends and evenings.

Mōu | About you

You will be a confident Kaiako that brings energy and creativity that shines through in your delivery.

Ideally, you will have:

• Diploma in Sports Leadership (L5) or related subject that demonstrates holding or showing
• equivalence for NZQA standards assessed in this programme
• NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent
• Either attest equivalence for NZQA standards required to assess and moderate this
• programme OR hold the NZ Certificate in Assessment Practice (L4)
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Proven experience in a related role teaching adult learners
• Ability to greet and acknowledge people in te reo Māori and pronounce Māori words correctly

Please note: Kaimahi (staff) employed in this role who have tauira (students) under 18 years of age, are required to be safety checked in accordance with the Vulnerable Children Act 2014

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
