Kaiako - Certificate Small Business (part time, 26 week fixed-term contract)

Mō mātou | About us

As a proudly indigenous tertiary educator, ‘tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.

Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

Are you passionate about small business development and eager to support entrepreneurs across Aotearoa? Have you started and run your own business, and want to share your knowledge with future business owners?

Te Wananga o Aotearoa is committed to tauira success and whānau transformation through education and is proud to offer a range of programmes to support new and existing business owners. We are currently seeking a motivated tutor to deliver one of these programmes, the Level 4 Certificate in Small Business, in an e-learning/online format.

Alongside delivering core programme curriculum, you will assist tauira (students) to develop a detailed business plan which will include profit and cashflow forecasts. Tauira will learn key business skills in the areas of marketing, operations, and financial management that will contribute to the growth and development of a business or enterprise.

Mōu | About you

The ideal applicant will have relevant tertiary and adult teaching qualifications as well as practical business experience. Confidence in online teaching is essential. An understanding of some Te Reo Māori and tikanga would be helpful, but more important is the ability to relate to all cultures within the class. Strong networks that can support tauira in their business journey will also be valuable.

Whilst this contract is for an online delivery format, we are interested in finding someone who has the potential to deliver either or both online and face-to-face classes in future, particularly in Auckland. Thus, it is advantageous, but not essential, that the applicant be based in Auckland.

If this position is for you, in your cover letter tell us why you are the right person to help our students put their learning into action.  Applicants must be available for an interview in late-April 2025.
