Mō tēnei mahi | About the role

As a Kaiako – He Puāwai, you will deliver the Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) programme, supporting tauira to build confidence, capability and success in their learning journey.

You’ll play a key role in planning and delivering engaging learning experiences, responding to tauira needs, and contributing to positive educational outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality teaching sessions tailored to tauira needs
  • Developing learning resources and teaching materials to support tauira success
  • Monitoring and assessing tauira progress, providing timely feedback
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance, assessments and progress
  • Supporting tauira through effective communication and pastoral care
  • Contributing to recruitment, noho, wānanga and other programme activities

 

Mōu | About you

You are passionate about adult education and committed to empowering others through learning. You bring a learner-centred approach and thrive in a kaupapa Māori environment.

You will ideally have:

  • A relevant adult teaching qualification (Level 6 or equivalent)
  • Experience working with adult learners (3+ years desirable)
  • Knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment practices
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence using digital learning tools and platforms
  • Understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga (or willingness to grow)

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Initiative, creativity and strong planning skills
  • The ability to engage and motivate diverse tauira
  • A commitment to Te Wānanga o Aotearoa values and kaupapa
