Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are seeking a Kaiako to deliver the He Waka Hiringa: Masters in Indigenous Knowledge programme, which involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress. The successful candidate is required to engage in Rangahau (research) and to maintain currency of subject knowledge. Some flexibility may be required to work some weekends and evenings

 

Mōu | About you

The Kaiako will have an understanding of higher learning within the world-wide indigenous millennium, have networks and engage with applied practitioners of indigenous knowledge expertise and is able to translate and teach indigenous rangahau methods, methodologies and techniques.

Ideally, applicants will have:

  • PhD in Indigenous Knowledge related subject
  • New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
  • Full and current NZ Driver Licence
  • 10 years+ applied indigenous knowledge and rangahau
  • Background working with post-graduate or Masters level tauira
  • Evidence of an established rangahau base
  • Adult teaching experience

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
