We are seeking a Kaiako to deliver our Kāwai Raupapa Visual Arts (Rauangi) L4 programme, which involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress.
You will be responsible for recruiting and inducting tauira, implementing effective teaching and assessment strategies, monitoring academic progress, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with TWoA and NZQA requirements. Creating a collaborative, inclusive and culturally grounded learning environment will be essential to the success of this role.
This is a Fixed Term (Jan 26- Dec 26) position, based out of Te Ao Mārama, Porirua campus. Some flexibility will be required to work some weekends and evenings.
Mōu | About you
You will have sound knowledge and teaching experience within the Visual Arts (Rauangi) field to deliver our Kāwai Raupapa Programme. You will need to have the ability to facilitate application of principle and theory into contextualised practice, apply tikanga Māori appropriate to Visual Arts (Rauangi), and be a critical, conceptual and self-reflective practitioner.
Ideally, applicants will have:
- Maunga Kura Toi (Bachelor of Māori Art L7) with a focus Visual Arts (Rauangi) or equivalent Bachelor Degree in Visual Arts
- NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
- Full and current NZ Driver License (Class 1)
- Experience teaching adults
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
