Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

The role of a Kaiako / Tutor is to teach tauira (students) in a wide variety of educational and vocational subjects. Teaching involves but is not limited to developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira, responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress.


Role: Fixed term, full time position
Location: Gisborne
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Days: Monday – Sunday

 

Your key focus areas will include:

  • Recruit for tauira in order to achieve tauira class numbers;
  • Plan delivery of assessments using the template provided in the curriculum (marau);
  • Assess tauira through various delivery models;
  • Plan and supervise Noho, Wānanga, Field Trips;
  • Maintain records of tauira; assessment results, attendance registers, progress, feedback, and end of course graduation rates, ensuring confidentiality of all records.

 

Moū | About you

  • Previous employment within the NZ Police (Preferred)
  • Experience in foundation education
  • Minimum Level 5 Diploma in related programme field
  • Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 or equivalent AND Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education Level 5 or equivalent
  • Newly qualified kaiako/teachers with relevant qualifications and no or limitedteaching experience will also be considered for employment
