Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to join our team in a full-time capacity (37.5 hours per week). This position combines two essential roles: Placement Coordinator for Social Work (0.5 FTE) and Kaiako for the Bachelor of Bicultural Social Work programme (0.5 FTE).

As the Placement Coordinator/kaiarataki, you will manage fieldwork placements, ensuring tauira are matched with suitable agencies and supervised throughout their practicum. You’ll build relationships with stakeholders, support tauira from enrolment to graduation, and contribute to practicum teaching where needed. You’ll also handle administrative tasks such as agreements, progress reporting, and collaborating with Kaiwhakahaere Ako to ensure effective programme delivery. There is travel involved to visit service providers either before, during or after tauira are placed with them.

In the Kaiako role, you will deliver a noho to Year 4 then Year 3 to prepare tauira for their 12-week services placement. Following each year group, once weekly you will hold 14 weeks then 16 weeks of 4hr tutorials in the evenings.  Lesson planning for tutorials is an essential part of evaluating tauira progress and gaining feedback. You will be expected to deliver a lesson in Year 1 and Year 2 for their preparation for placement in the Degree.  You are required to engage in research (rangahau) to enhance teaching and contribute to Mātauranga Māori and the programme’s vision.
