We are seeking a Kaiako to teach on our prestigious Postgraduate Diploma of Bicultural Professional Supervision (Level 8) — a uniquely Indigenous, internationally recognised programme that advances bicultural professional excellence in Aotearoa.

As a Kaiako, you will play a pivotal role in shaping culturally confident, critically engaged, and professionally grounded tauira. This is an opportunity to:

  • Teach within a kaupapa Māori learning environment where mātauranga Māori leads the way
  • Share your expertise to advance bicultural professional supervision across Aotearoa
  • Engage in rangahau to grow your own practice and contribute to the wider body of Indigenous knowledge

Mōu | About you

As a Kaiako, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, culturally responsive lessons
  • Develop high‑quality teaching and study materials
  • Support tauira through mentorship, assessment, and ongoing communication
  • Facilitate noho, wānanga, and experiential learning opportunities
  • Maintain academic integrity through accurate records and compliance with educational standards
  • Collaborate with colleagues, tauira whānau, and community partners
  • Contribute to rangahau and continuous improvement of the programme
  • Model tikanga, uphold āhuatanga Māori, and weave Te Reo Māori into learning experiences

 

Ideally, you will have:

  • Master’s degree (L9) in social work or related subject
  • NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
  • Experience teaching adults
  • Clean Police Record
  • Full and current registration with the NZ Social Work Registration Board

 

Please note: This position is classed as a Core Worker under the Vulnerable Children’s Act and will need to pass a safety check, inclusive of Police Vetting, under the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
