Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

Are you passionate about teaching Māori Indigenous Arts, to enable Tauira success and contribute to whānau transformation through Education?  If you answered yes, then this is for you!

This is a full-time (37.5hrs per week), fixed term (until 14 December 2026) position based at our Mangere Campus. You will be required to develop lesson plans, present material to tauira, respond to tauira learning needs and evaluate and communicate tauira progress.  You will assess tauira progress and be able to monitor assessments.

Mōu | About you

The Kaiako (tutor) will have sound knowledge and teaching experience in Toi (Weaving) to deliver our Toi Maruata programme. You will need to have the ability to facilitate creative practices and processes, apply tikanga Māori appropriate to Mōteatea, and be a critical, conceptual and self-reflective practitioner.

To be considered for this role you will hold the following qualifications and experience:

  • Diploma in Māori Arts with a focus on Toi
  • NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 (NZCATT) or equivalent or be willing to complete in the first year of employment.
  • Full NZ Driver License
  • Proven experience in a related role with specific skills and knowledge in Toi
  • Adult teaching experience
  • Advanced in spoken and writer te reo Māori

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
