Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are seeking a Kaiako to deliver our Te Ao Māori Foundation Level 3 programme, which involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress.

You will be responsible for recruiting and inducting tauira, implementing effective teaching and assessment strategies, monitoring academic progress, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with TWoA and NZQA requirements. Creating a collaborative, inclusive and culturally grounded learning environment will be essential to the success of this role.

This is a Permanent(of 37.5 hours per week) position, based out of the Ōtepoti campus. Some flexibility will be required to work some weekends and evenings

Mōu | About you

You will be a confident Kaiako that brings energy and creativity that shines through in your delivery. You will be skilled in teaching te reo Māori, toi Māori, and tikanga Māori to provide tauira with a foundation to further their study in any of those disciplines.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Diploma (Level 5) in Mātauranga Māori or a related subject
  • NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
  • Full and current New Zealand Driver License (Class 1)
  • 3+ years’ experience working with iwi, hapu or marae projects
  • 3+ years’ experience teaching adults

 

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
