Mō tēnei mahi (About this job)
We are seeking an experienced Kaiako to deliver our Te Ara Reo Māori programme using our Ako Whakatere methodology and techniques. Teaching involves but is not limited to developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira and responding to tauira needs and evaluating tauira progress. Rangahau (research) is encouraged for Kaiako delivering this programme. This is a permanent full-time (37.5hrs per week) position, based in Lower Hutt.
Mōu (About you)
You will be a confident conversational speaker of Te Reo Māori, have a thorough knowledge of tikanga Māori and be familiar with Te Reo Māori teaching methods that will motivate our tauira starting out on their journey in learning Te Reo Māori.
Ideally, applicants will have:
- A Diploma in te reo Māori or higher
- NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
- National Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NCALNE) L5
- Full and current NZ Driver Licence
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
