Location: Ōpōtiki
Hours: Full-time, 37.5hours per week
Tenure: Permanent
As a Kaiako, you will:
- Develop and deliver lesson plans
- Respond to tauira learning needs, and evaluate tauira progress
- Be responsible for recruiting and inducting tauira
- Implement effective teaching and assessment strategies
- Monitor academic progress,
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with TWoA and NZQA requirements and
- Create a collaborative, inclusive and culturally grounded learning environment for tauira
- Have the flexibility to work some nights and weekends for noho and one day wānanga
Mōu | About you
We are looking for someone who has the following:
- Proficiency in te re Māori
- Diploma (Level 5) or higher, in te reo Māori, or demonstrated equivalent experience
- NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
- Full and current NZ Driver Licence (Class 1)
- Knowledge of Ako Whakatere methods of teaching, learning and delivery
- Experience teaching te reo Māori
- Experience teaching adults
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
