Location: Maniapoto Campus, Te Kuiti
Hours: Full-time, 37.5hrs per week

Tenure: Permanent

As a Kaiako, you will:

  • Inspire a love of te reo Māori through engaging and supportive teaching.
  • Guide tauira success from enrolment through to completion and graduation.
  • Create meaningful learning experiences through noho, wānanga and kaupapa Māori approaches.
  • Adapt learning to individual needs, supporting tauira to achieve their goals.
  • Foster strong relationships with tauira, whānau, kaimahi and community.
  • Champion te ao Māori values and contribute to a positive, inclusive

 

Mōu | About you

We are looking for someone who has the following:

  • A Level 5 qualification (or higher) in te reo Māori, with adult tertiary teaching and assessment credentials (or ability to attain them within 12 months).
  • Experience teaching te reo Māori and adult learners, or proven capability to deliver kaupapa Māori learning programmes.
  • Fluency in spoken and written te reo Māori, with a strong understanding of tikanga and mātauranga Māori.
  • A learner-centred approach, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to motivate, support and empower diverse learners to succeed.

 

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
