Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Kaiako to deliver Te Pūtaketanga o te Reo (Level 3 & 4) a total immersion programme in te reo Māori. The role requires a broad range of responsibilities including planning and delivering engaging learning sessions , developing teaching materials, facilitating noho and wānanga, and tailoring your teaching to meet the needs of diverse adult tauira.

You will be responsible for recruiting and inducting tauira, implementing effective teaching and assessment strategies, monitoring academic progress, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with TWoA and NZQA requirements. Creating a collaborative, inclusive and culturally grounded learning environment will be essential to the success of this role.

Mōu | About you

We’re looking for a fluent te reo Māori speaker with strong teaching experience in full immersion settings. The ideal person will be passionate about adult education, confident in kaupapa Māori delivery, and committed to supporting tauira to achieve their goals.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Diploma (Level 5) in te reo Māori or higher
  • NZ Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5)
  • Either equivalency for NZQA standards or NZ Certificate n Assessment Practice (Level 4)
  • Full and current NZ Driver’s License (Class 1)
  • 3+ years’ experience teaching full immersion te reo Māori
  • 3+ years’ experience in teaching adults

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
