Kaiako/Teacher – Puna Reo

Mō mātou | About us

As a proudly indigenous tertiary educator, ‘tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.

Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

Are you passionate about supporting tamariki to learn, grow, and thrive in a nurturing environment? We’re looking for a dedicated Kaiako to join our whānau at Whare Amai Puna Reo where learning is grounded whakapapa, whanaungatanga and aroha. This is a fixed-term, part-time (25hours per week) position based in Gisborne, that starts in May 2025 and ends in December 2025.

At our Puna Reo, we are more than just an early learning centre – we’re a community. A place where tamariki are encouraged to explore, develop, and feel proud of who they are. As one of our valued Kaiako, you’ll help create a safe, inclusive, and culturally rich space where every child feels seen, heard, and supported.

You’ll lead and support learning aligned with Te Whāriki, weaving in marau Māori and meaningful experiences that reflect our Kaupapa. You will document tamariki progress, build strong relationships with whānau, and work alongside a passionate team to create positive outcomes for our learners.
