About the role:

Are you passionate about Māori Performing Arts to enable tauira success and contribute to whānau transformation through Education?  If you answered yes, then this is for you!

Kaiako will be responsible for developing lesson plans, present material to tauira, respond to tauira learning needs and evaluate and communicate tauira progress.  You will assess tauira progress and be able to monitor assessments. Some flexibility may be required to work some weekends and evenings.

 

About you:

The Kaiako will have sound knowledge and teaching experience in Māori Performing Arts or Music to deliver our Toi Maruata programme. You will need to have the ability to facilitate creative practices and processes, apply tikanga Māori appropriate to performing arts or music, and be a critical, conceptual and self-reflective practitioner.

To be considered for this role you will hold the following qualifications and experience:

  • Diploma in Māori Arts with a focus on Māori Performing Arts or Music
  • NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 (NZCATT) or equivalent or be willing to complete in the first year of employment.
  • Full NZ Driver License
  • Proven experience in a related role with specific skills and knowledge in Māori Performing Arts
  • Adult teaching experience
  • Advanced in spoken and written te reo Māori

 

Whilst teaching experience is highly valued at TWoA, newly qualified Kaiako with relevant qualifications but with no or limited previous teaching experience will also be considered.

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
