Role Type: Part Time, Fixed term
Location: Tokoroa, Te Rau Ōriwa Puna Reo
Hours: 40 hours per fortnight
Days: Mon-Friday

As Kaitautoko | Cook – Puna Reo, you will:

  • Plan, purchase and prepare nutritious daily meals and snacks for tamariki.
  • Develop balanced menus that cater to a range of dietary and cultural requirements.
  • Maintain high food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Manage kitchen operations, food storage and inventory within budget.
  • Support opportunities for tamariki to participate in kai preparation as part of their learning experience.
  • Build positive relationships with tamariki, whānau and kaimahi while promoting Te Wānanga o Aotearoa values and kaupapa.

 

Mōu | About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene or a related qualification.
  • A current First Aid Certificate.
  • A Full NZ Driver Licence (Class 1).
  • Proven experience working independently in a commercial kitchen.
  • Experience preparing meals for larger groups, ideally within an early learning or childcare environment.
  • A strong understanding of food safety regulations and nutritional requirements for babies, toddlers and young tamariki.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • The ability to create nutritious, appealing meals while maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop your understanding of āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is highly desirable.
