Programme Manager - Te Pae Tawhiti
Transformation Programme ManagerTe Pae Tawhiti Office | Two-year Fixed Term
Te Pae Tawhiti 2030 is Te Wānanga o Aotearoa's organisational strategy, and delivering it requires real transformation across the way we work. The Te Pae Tawhiti Office sits at the heart of that work, coordinating a portfolio of interconnected initiatives designed to strengthen how we operate so we can better serve our tauira, our kaimahi, and the communities we exist for.
We are looking for a Transformation Programme Manager to provide the delivery discipline that keeps that portfolio on track.
Mōmātou | About us
As a proudly kaupapa Māori tertiary educator, ‘tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.
Our kaimahi enjoy a whānau-friendly workplace and a great range of benefits to support the wellbeing of them and their whānau
Mōtēnei mahi | About this job
This is a programme-level role focused on rigour, visibility, and coordination across a complex body of work. You will track delivery progress, manage risks and dependencies, maintain RAID logs and reporting artefacts, and produce clear, timely reporting for governance and senior leaders. You will also take end-to-end ownership of defined projects and workstreams, and provide dedicated support to communications and engagement activity (approximately 30% of your time). You will be the person who ensures nothing falls through the gaps and that decision-makers have what they need, when they need it.
You will report to the Senior Programme Manager and work as part of a collaborative transformation team that includes the Manager – Communications and Engagement, the Organisational Change Manager, and the Senior Analyst, Data and Insights.
The transformation portfolio is live and moving. You will not be setting up from scratch, but you will be shaping how the work lands. There is real scope to influence how the portfolio is governed, how risks are managed, and how the organisation experiences this change. This is a role with weight and visibility.
Mōu | About you
You have 5-7 years of solid experience managing projects and supporting programme-level delivery, ideally in a transformation or portfolio environment. You are organised, thorough, and reliable under pressure. You know how to prepare governance reporting that is clear and decision-ready, how to keep documentation tidy and accessible, and how to manage the logistics of a busy team without losing sight of the bigger picture.
You are a relationship builder. You work well across diverse stakeholder groups, know how to hold trust with senior leaders and frontline kaimahi alike, and you write and present with clarity and purpose.
Kua whati te tai, tonomai! | Apply today!
If you are a disciplined, well-organised programme manager who wants to do meaningful work in an organisation that values people and culture, we would like to hear from you.
