We are seeking a highly capable Senior Accountantto join our Rangatahua team based at Te Puna Mātauranga, Te Awamutu.Reporting to the Lead Finance, youwill play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial information, providing expert accounting advice, and supporting sound financial decision-making across the organisation.
As a trusted finance partner, you will provide senior-level accounting and financial services to allocated business units, ensuring compliance, accuracy, transparency and strong financial stewardship.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and delivering accurate management reports and financial analysis.
- Producing
month-end
,and annual financial reporting. - Preparing financial statements and supporting budget and forecast development for assigned business units.
- Conducting variance analysis, reconciliations and financial forecasting.
- Reviewing accounting transactions and journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Providing technical accounting advice and support to managers and business leaders.
- Supporting internal and external audits while maintaining strong internal controls.
- Identifying and recommending improvements to accounting systems, processes and procedures.
- Coordinating complex accounting projects and financial initiatives.
- Training, mentoring and supporting developing finance team members.
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and service excellence.

You are an accomplished finance professional with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a proven track record of delivering high-quality financial services in complex environments. You combine technical expertise with excellent relationship management skills and the ability to communicate financial information clearly and confidently.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline.
- Chartered Accountant (CAANZ) status or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- At least 7 years' accounting experience in progressively senior roles.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, processes and financial reporting requirements.
- Proven experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end and year-end reporting processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong accounting systems capability.
- Financial modelling, forecasting and trend analysis expertise.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Excellent planning, organisation and project management capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
