About the role:

We are inviting applications for a newly designed role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) Analytics – National Tauira Success Services.  The primary purpose of the SME Analytics – National Tauira Success Services is to provide specialist knowledge and expertise by providing quality market/business research, analysis, and informed business rationale and recommendations to support the continued development and improvement of Tauira Success Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data collection, analysis tools and statistical measures to analyse and report on Tauira success measures

  • Research and analyse key metrics to identify trends and present innovative business improvement opportunities to inform and achieve the Tauira Success Plan

  • Provide analysis of institutional data, statistics, graphs and charts to inform managerial and executive decision making and influence retention and early withdrawal rates

  • Provide project management leadership and support to identify best practice tauira support and drive initiatives with Takiwā

  • Foster within Student Support a culture in which tauira transactions and related data are intrinsically valued and understood by advisors and their managers as being inexorably linked to tauira success


So what does it take to succeed in the role?

  • You will have a bachelor degree in Education, Social Science or similar

  • 5+ years’ experience in the tertiary education sector

  • 5+ years’ experience analysing, investigating and interpreting data, issues and situations

  • Willing to participate in cultural activities and motivated to develop an understanding of āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga)

  • A full NZ Drivers Licence

You will be a creative thinker, with a mathematical brain and able to take data analysis to the next level. 

The ability to look at student success and student support opportunities through a Māori world view and to communicate and build strong relationships across the organisation is essential in this role – taking people on the journey with you is your forte and your passion.
