The Takiwā Ako Manager is responsible for providing Kaupapa Matua based strategically aligned leadership, that uplifts, inspires and unites through collaboration, promoting shared purpose, collective potential, continuous improvement and excellence.

This role involves:

  • Leading and supporting kaiako and kaimahi to deliver quality programmes.
  • Managing enrolment plans and academic performance to meet enrolment, retention, completion, and graduation targets.
  • Driving continuous improvement, innovation, and quality assurance processes.
  • Building strong relationships with iwi, hapū, and community stakeholders.

Mōu | About you

You will be a key driver to lead, implement, and monitor key Ako Excellence deliverables within a Takiwā team. You’ll oversee operational educational delivery, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and academic administration practices that drive tauira success.

You will oversee a portfolio within your takiwā team that covers Rongoā, Adult Education, Waka and Study and Employment Skills, so you will need to demonstrate expert knowledge in these areas.

You’ll bring:

  • A Master’s qualification in Education, Educational Leadership, or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in educational leadership and management within the tertiary sector.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, NZQA frameworks, and academic performance management.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and planning skills.
  • A commitment to kaupapa Māori values and willingness to participate in cultural activities.
