Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We're looking for a passionate Early Learning (Puna Whakatupu) Teacher to join us at our Hamilton centre, on a casual basis.

You'll be responsible for providing last-minute cover when a team member is unable to work due to illness or other reasons. This may involve receiving a call either in the morning or the previous evening to cover a full day or specific time. Additionally, you’ll be involved in managing planned leave. Prior to the leave period, you’ll have the opportunity to indicate if you are available for all, part of or none of the time and we will work together to finalise arrangements.

As an Early Learning Teacher, you will create a safe, culturally enriched learning environment for our tamariki, delivering marau Māori aligned with Te Whāriki, documenting tamariki progress, and collaborating with kaimahi and whānau to achieve positive outcomes.

Mōu | About you

If you have the following skills and attributes, we'd love to hear from you:

  • Qualification in Teaching for Early Childhood Education or Primary – Level 7
  • A current Practicing Certificate issued by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Proven experience working with tamariki.
  • A sound understanding of Māori culture, values, tikanga and te reo.
  • A full NZ Driver’s License.

You will need to undergo and pass a safety check as required under the Children’s Act 2014.  The role also requires some lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
