Location: Tūkarere Campus, Tauranga
Hours: Part-time, 15 hours per week
Class Delivery Days: Wednesday AM / Wednesday PM/ Thursday PM
Tenure: Permanent
As Kaiāwhina, you will:
- Support Kaiako with the planning, preparation and delivery of high-quality learning experiences for tauira.
- Assist with tauira recruitment, enrolment processes and maintaining accurate learner records.
- Prepare learning resources, teaching materials and classroom environments to support effective programme delivery.
- Provide pastoral and academic support to tauira, helping to promote engagement, retention and successful programme completion.
- Monitor attendance, following up learner absences and assisting with initiatives to improve tauira success.
- Support programme activities, including noho marae, wānanga and administrative processes that contribute to quality educational outcomes.
Mōu | About you
We are looking for someone who has the following:
- NCEA Level 2 (equivalent or higher) relevant qualification in Te Reo Māori preferred.
- Proficiency in Te Reo Māori both written and spoken.
- Experience in a support, education, administration or customer-focused role, ideally within a learning environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect positively with tauira and colleagues.
- A proactive, organised approach and a willingness to support a variety of programme activities.
- The ability to motivate, encourage and empower others to achieve their goals.
- A commitment to te ao Māori, tikanga Māori and the values of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
Waiata is part of the tauira learning journey, so if you can play the guitar and/or love to sing, that would be a bonus!
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
